So a friend of mine gave 40 bucks to a hustler the other night. I don't think this guy qualified as homeless since he was trying to get to his parents' house and was offering up his car as collateral.
Anyway...my friend was feeling generous and gave the guy some cash. It sparked a conversation that went something like "I don't like giving money to people because they'll probably just use it to buy booze or drugs"
really??
I have a job. I have a house. I have a car. pretty much--I have it good...and I drink on a VERY regular basis. If I've got it all that great and I need booze to get through the week who am I to begrudge the guy down on his luck?
I hope he buys booze and drugs! Otherwise I just look like an alcoholic.

ReplyDeleteA long time ago back when I didn't own a cell phone this guy was asking for money at an off ramp. I didn't have any to give.... but later he was walking away talking on a cell phone. That did piss me off! But if he had a brown bag and was swigging it back... I would have said cheers!!!!!!!!! :)
